Eric Ellingsen: RADICAL IMAGINATION COMMUNINTY
Eric will give a short talk and performance on his spatial and teaching practices. He will focus on a few recent projects entangling perception, art and architecture as public engagement, education experiments and a politics of learning, as well as mapping as a kind of embodied cognition engaging urban situations through language/poetry/and walking. In the summer of 2016, Eric plans to work with a community of interested participants to open an experimental 'school' or 'institute'. The school will be a platform for learning how to learn, as well as a sustainable community practice run by participants that will inherit the institute platform after Eric's residency ends. We will create a constitution for our community by walking and cooking together while we occupy public spaces of the city. The city will be our classroom, our studio, our office, our laboratory. While we walk we will forage for architectural materials, as well as conduct 'classes' in different public spaces throughout the city. The school will be a choreographed archipelago of actions and designs as 'platforms' situated in public spaces. The platforms will host a moving festival of speakers, actions, performances, and politics. |
Lynn Peemoeller: MEMORY KITCHEN
Lynn will give a small talk and host a conversation on how FOOD and recipes provide a bridge for growing cross-gernerational knowledge. Her talk will focus on recent projects and the possibilities that are cultivated when overlapping the spaces of our cities, homes, lives and food as spaces where we cook our stories and memories. In the summer of 2016, Lynn plans to work with a small group of people that will engage a mobile food and media laboratory. The mobile food lab will be rolled through the city and be used to create public ethnographic encounters that will collect cross-generation food stories. The mobile food lab will also be a broadcast station, a platform for a 'food TV show' that will engage cooking performances and competitions. The mobile food lab will also be incorporated into Eric's project during the overlapping residencies, and will be inherited by the Radical Imagination Community to be used for their 'school'. |
